listening along the lines

sound installation | namwon | 2017

listening along the lines is a site-specific installation made during a 2-week residency in Namwon, Korea. It is set up in a room of a quiet, unoccupied building of the Korean Broadcasting Station (KBS). Using a found blueprint manual of power boxes as graphic notations, listening along the lines is composed of sounds drawn from mechanical parts and structures of KBS’s power systems. It traces the shape of the blueprints, drawing a relationship between the listener and the body of the building.
